URINAL DE LA ESQUINA (A MARSEL O.)

2001

A corner in a street where people regularly urinated is the selected site for installing a functional urinal. This piece makes reference to The Fountain (1917) by Marcel Duchamp, its purpose was to symbolically return the original function Duchamp’s piece had before becoming an art object, while at the same time give its title a literal meaning by making the urinal a water fountain. The piece stood up in Mexico City for a period of a week where it was used both as a urinal and a water source by many people.
